I hope there is somebody here that can help me, if not maybe someone who can
point me in the right direction for help. I have a 16:9 TV/monitor I just
bought and was wondering if there is a way to get windows to display at the
correct aspect ratio so that it is not distorted. I don't want the bars on
the side and stretching the image looks bad. Any help is appreciated.

My NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 (not exactly state-of-the-art, but a superb performer, nonetheless)
does 16:9 just fine (1600x900 is one of the more obvious choices in the drop-down menu).
They are widely available for well under $50 (Newegg.com immediately comes to mind). I
suspect that most, if not all newer NVIDIA based cards will also do this. Probably others as
well.

Would this not really depend upon the settings and output that your video card
is capable of???
and as such we need to know your video card
