Why Windows won't use 2 connections...

Will Windows XP use and balance 2 distinct connections? Say one from a
DSL modem and another from a cable modem?

I know there are load balancing devices, but which are in the home user
price range? Say $300 or under?

OR

A wireless connection from one network and wired connection from a
distinctly different network?

The later (wireless and wired) I'm most keenly interested in.

Thanks,

Dave

Windows supports simultaneous connections to multiple networks. However, it
will only use one default gateway. You can control which one gets
preference, but the OS does not 'balance' them.

Can't you bridge two network connection? Wouldn't this crudely balance
utilization between two connections?

First check with your ISP. They may consider it a violation of the
Terms Of Service to bridge their network to some other ISP's network.
You will be creating a bridge on your host between their networks.

Not if both networks have Internet access - or, to put it differently, if
you successfully bridge the networks, all machines will use the same
Internet gateway. Even when machines are configured with multiple default
gateways, they will only use one of them unless and until it fails.
