why will my deleted items folder not automatically empty upon exi.

In Outlook I wish for the sytem to automatically empty the "Deleted Items"
folder contents when I exit Outlook.

I have it set to do this but after intially working for a couple of weeks OK
it has now ceased emptying the folder as required.

Outlook version?

I suspect what's happening is that Outlook isn't actually closing. Use Task
Manager to see of the OUTLOOK.EXE process goes away after exiting Outook.
If not, that's the problem.
