Hello:

In the last week, a strange problem has developed with my system.
Everything works fine on boot-up, and continues to work fine for as long
as I need it to, unless I quit for awhile, and attend to other things.
After 25 minutes, the system goes into "naptime" mode (Dell computer,
BTW). Frequently now, after I bring it back up with a touch on the
spacebar, the first thing I usually do is connect online. If the
"online" icon shows up in the system tray, I know I'm fine. But though
it always connects, the problem occurs if the online icon *doesn't* show
up in the tray (it is connected online, just no icon - that's the "flag"
I've noticed for the problem). Then the next thing I do - regardless of
what it is, it seems - the computer freezes, and I mean solid (the only
way I have been able to get out of it is actually unplugging it from the
wall). It is not a virus, unless it's one my daily download of Norton
hasn't caught up with yet, and Norton catches everything, IME. A recent
"Windows Update" download?? Any help very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Tony
