What are the benefits of switching from OE to Outlook? I tried it briefly a
year ago and found it frustrating. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

If you are pleased with Express, don't switch! I started on Express at home
(several years ago), and my work uses Outlook- it took me about three days to
get used to, and now I can't even remember why I used Express. But if you're
not forced to change due to work or whatever, I wouldn't bother. I think they
say that Outlook is more integrated or something, and the Calandar, Contacts,
and Tasks are a little easier to get to and a bit more organized. Other than
that, it doesn't really matter. Email is email, no matter the format.

If you have Microsoft Outlook, I would recommend you use it instead of Express. Outlook is more than just an email client. I have 4 credit cards payments to make each month, numerous meetings and classes to teach, birthdays to remember, library books to return, and on and on. I use Outlook so nothing falls through the cracks. It actually saves me time and money.

Also, I have 3 separate email accounts configured in Outlook. When I open
Outlook, I get a prompt allowing me to select what account I want to open.
You can't do that with Express.

Outlook is one of the easiest applications to learn. If you want some help,
I recommend Outlook 2003 Personal Trainer from O'reilly books. You can buy it
on Amazon for about $20.

Actually, you're getting prompted for which Mail Profile you want Outlook to
use, not which account.

If all you are doing is email, then stay with Express. No reason to
frustrate yourself with the things that you do not want/need.

Meanwhile, even email experience is more convenient with Outlook. I have
used Outlook Express for some time before switching to Outlook. I would never
go back. I don't even remember exactly what the difference is any more as I
made the switch a few years ago. But I do remember saying to myself, "Oh wow,
Outlook can do this; this is cool."

Outlook is also your daily life management. As ibvalentine noted, it gives
you many options to manage your tasks, appointments, etc., documenting pretty
much everything that needs to be documented. I use it to manage my business
contacts, personal friends and family including any days I should remember,
all my appointments, my daily tasks and projects, use forms and macros to
create functions that I need, create a merge file for my holiday cards, and
organize incoming email and complete email/tasks. I no longer use Miscrosoft
exchange server but when I did, I was able to request meetings, see others'
availabilities and put meeting together in a jiffy, assign tasks and projects
to others.

But then you will have to learn to use all the functions. Everyone gets
frustrated when they have to break old habits and get to know new things.
Just be patient and try to learn, and you will get used to Outlook in no time.
