Why when I compose a new message must I first hit send and then hit
send/recieve to have the message leave the outbox? Is there an option to
have it sent upon the first send? Thank you...

Outlook 2002 ... and woudl POP3/SMTP be the type of mail acct?
thank you

Outlook version? Type of mail account(s)?

In Tools | Options | Mail Setup, check the "Send immediately when connection" box.

connection" box.

This box was checked... and what I have discovered is that if I am sending
just a typed message it IS sent immediately...It is when I have something
attached that it goes to the outbox.......
