Why isn't my E-mail list visible when I click make new message?

On both of my PC's with windows Vista and I can't start a new e-mail by
picking from my e-mail list, the list is empty accept for the contact name. I
can start a new e-mail by choosing a contact in my contacts list. Any
possible reason for this?

Tell us what you mean by "my email list." That term has meaning only to you.
Include your Outlook version and a clearer description of what you want to
do.

When I open Outlook 2007 SP1, I click on E-mail and click to start a new
e-mail, when I click on the "To" button, my contact list appears but the
e-mail name is not in the contact list. I just see the telephone # field. I
should be able to see the e-mail address as well.

You'll need to provide more information. Specify how you created your
Contacts (for example did you try to import them or transfer them via
synchronization or create them in this installation?) State how you
configured your Outlook Address Book Service.

I transfered them from a previous install from an older pc. Now I'm also
using Mobile Me to syncronize with my iPhone. However I did disable the
Mobile Me program without any affect on Outlook. I was hoping that was
causing my problem! I don't know I configured my Outlook Address Book Service.

The possibilities are still endless. A Contact will only appear in the
address book view if they have a valid, resolved electronic address. How you
transferred your Outlook data is very much in play, and you did not provide
that information. Doing so incorrectly (by importing, for example) can
create invalid email addresses in your Contact Records. So can syncing,
especially with an iPhone.
To troubleshoot further, read this and see if you have configured your
Outlook Address Book correctly:

If you have then you need to look closely at your Contact Records and see if
they have valid, resolved electronic addresses. Create a new Contact from
scratch with a valid electronic address and see if it appears in your
address book view.

Good Morning Russ,
I think I imported the contact list after I setup this new machine in July.
Do I need to re-create my entire contact list from scratch? I did notice that
the "allow e-mail list" is greyed out.

Does the Outlook Address Book Service exist in your profile? If it does, and
you still cannot designate your Contacts Folder as an email address book,
then you have a corrupt Outlook profile and will have to create a new one.

but
the
e-mail name is not in the contact list. I just see the
telephone
#
field.
I
should be able to see the e-mail address as well.

Tell us what you mean by "my email list." That term has
meaning
only
to
you.
Include your Outlook version and a clearer description of
what
you

do.

On both of my PC's with windows Vista and I can't start
a
new
e-mail
by
picking from my e-mail list, the list is empty accept
for
the
contact
name. I
can start a new e-mail by choosing a contact in my
contacts
list.
Any
possible reason for this?

Also answered in my previous post.

I didn't know it wasn't there. I did however create a new Profile, but
don't
know how to put my contact list in the new profile I created?

Russ Valentine said:
Well then why don't you just follow the instructions I posted to add it
and
configure it? You said you had.
Is there something there you don't understand?

No the Outlook Address Book Service is not there!

:

You still didn't answer my question. Is the Outlook Address Book
Service
present in your profile or not?
If it is, then use the instructions for creating a new Outlook
profile.
Only
this time do NOT import your Outlook data. Just open your data file in
the
new profile and set it as your default.

I tried the entire procedure but the Address book is Greyed out which
makes
it invisible when I try to send an e-mail! I'm stuck

:

I already posted instructions on how to configure the Outlook
Address
Book
Service which explains how you can tell if the service is in your
profile.

I do see under my Contacts Properties the Outlook Address Book and
the
"Show
this Folder as an e-mail address book" the check mark is greyed
out!
I
do
see
the Outlook Address Book in my profile. How do I re-create a new
one?

:

Does the Outlook Address Book Service exist in your profile? If
it
does,
and
you still cannot designate your Contacts Folder as an email
address
book,
then you have a corrupt Outlook profile and will have to create
a
new
one.

Good Morning Russ,
I think I imported the contact list after I setup this new
machine
in
July.
Do I need to re-create my entire contact list from scratch? I
did
notice
that
the "allow e-mail list" is greyed out.

:

The possibilities are still endless. A Contact will only
appear
in
the
address book view if they have a valid, resolved electronic
address.
How
you
transferred your Outlook data is very much in play, and you
did
not
provide
that information. Doing so incorrectly (by importing, for
example)
can
create invalid email addresses in your Contact Records. So
can
syncing,
especially with an iPhone.
To troubleshoot further, read this and see if you have
configured
your
Outlook Address Book correctly:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287563&Product=ol2002

If you have then you need to look closely at your Contact
Records
and
see
if
they have valid, resolved electronic addresses. Create a new
Contact
from
scratch with a valid electronic address and see if it appears
in
your
address book view.

I transfered them from a previous install from an older pc.
Now
I'm
also
using Mobile Me to syncronize with my iPhone. However I did
disable
the
Mobile Me program without any affect on Outlook. I was
hoping
that
was
causing my problem! I don't know I configured my Outlook
Address
Book
Service.

:

You'll need to provide more information. Specify how you
created
your
Contacts (for example did you try to import them or
transfer
them
via
synchronization or create them in this installation?)
State
how
you
configured your Outlook Address Book Service.
