My word Custom dictionary's path is shown as a roaming source. Why?
I think you misunderstand the terminology in the file path. When you install
Office on Windows Vista, the default location of the custom dictionary is the
folder
C:\Users\<you name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Proof
The article
<
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766489(WS.10).aspx> explains
the use of the AppData folder and its three subfolders in detail, but the gist
of it is this: If you're in a network environment where you can log in from
different locations, part of your user profile can be downloaded from a central
server to wherever you are, and that part is contained in the Roaming folder and
its subfolders. If you aren't on that kind of network, the Roaming folder is
just local and doesn't have anything to do with actual roaming, but its name
doesn't change.
