Outlook Express will not work on Vista.
Most users are able to use Windows Mail successfully.
If you will describe your specific issue, I'm sure we can help you.

As there is no way to using the old OE under Vista:
Just get used to it ;-)
AFAICS you are just having beginners' problems. And I'm sure that it
won't take long to get used to the rather few differences.

I for one *love* WinMail (in spite of a number of shortcomings inherited
from OE) and I really don't see any point where OE would have had
advantages over WinMail.

I think ditching Vista and going back to Windows XP home is the only way. I
held off on installing Vista for over a year of the rumblings of trouble and
the bad press. Five days after biting the bullet and ordering a copy to go
on my new Phenom x64 machine I'm finally beginning to understand what all
the noise was about.

Now I wish I'd stayed with the copy of XP Pro x64 I bought first and it
isn't too late to go back to it. In fact, if I can't find a way to get
Outlook Express messages imported I will.

I've owned a couple of copies of almost every version of Windows from 95. I
waited up all night once trying to download Outlook Express Platform Preview
over a dial up connection. Right about now I would create mayhem for a copy
of OE 4 PPV that would run on Vista.

Well I've got fifty thousand saved messages in Outlook Express, both email
and newsgroup, and I've already moved them to different machines and even
between 98, 2000, xp and xp pro. Explain why the normal app for doing so on
Vista can't even find one of them please. I've even used WinRAR to compress
the message store, moved it over the network, and then reinflated it and
Visa can't find the messages there either. It just finds and empty folder. I
can look in the folder and see the files but unfortunately WinMail doesn't
pay any attention when I point to them.

1. Are you sure you're pointing to the folder that holds the DBX files and
not one of the DBX files itself.

2. Is Folders.dbx there and have you made sure they are not Read Only?

3. See this site and especially the cautions about WinMail messing up the
path.
