Why I don't like O2003.

Well I may get flamed for this but it is my personal experience. Also I am new
to Outlook. Am a long time user of OE since the 5.0 versions.

Well the first thing it took MS till version 2003 to include in it the progress
bar with details like OE have been doing for years.

2nd - where is the 'send later' button in O2003?? You cannot press 'send' when
you are offline...

3rd - It's a resource hog...

And although it does it work well with mega tons of features I still think for
the above reasons it is not that excellent software some people say it is...

Thanks for the input.

You are new to OL 2003 so why don't you explore it for a while before you
criticize, or change your name to RayOf Dark.
Why did you "thank for input", you did not say anything constructive.

1. Outlook 98/2000 IMO mode always included this. You never noticed.
2. Options->do not send before.
3. Depends on your system - mine only uses about 30 megs memory.
4. So, you criticize it for not being OE and say it is not the excellent
program that I and others say it is. You do not mention whether you have
tried the PIM features, what you may find lacking there, etc.

So, what you are basically saying is that it is not a very good email
client - well, guess what? It is not a mail client, it is a PIM.

Phewww was expecting the flame! Anyway I am just about testing it and I also
read some articles from it from some magazines. Apart being a virus magnet of
some sort YES it is a very powerful software indeed - ok not an email software
but a PIM :-) And it would take me some weeks of using to say the least before I
can give my feedback again.

Cheers.

"Apart being a virus magnet"

again - you are showing your ignorance since Outlook 2000 SP-1 has not been
a "Virus-magnet" (circa 2001) for a LONG time, so I wIll assume your post
to be a troll.

I am not a Microsoftie but OL is quite different from OE. OE is pretty good
for e-mail and newgroups. But OL is really made for use primarily as a PIM
that is also pretty good for e-mail. If you don't use the PIM features of
OL, then there is probably no reason to use it over a better mail client,
including OE. As a PIM it is pretty good. And if used in conjunction with
Office, you can see even more potential, such as mail merging, and getting
certain OL data into Word documents. The potential is not quite realized,
of course, and trying to do what you want can get a little frustrating. But
then again, that seems to be a standard part of any Microsoft stuff--in my
opinion only. This and other message boards are a great resource! There
are several things I like from OE that I wish were there in OL but . . .

Ya as a PIM I think OL2000-30 is quite hard to beat. Simply it is No. 1.But as
far as email is concerned I remember what some MS guy said - we are trying to
put some function form OE to OL...

My point is that OL is way too complicated for the average user and also is
geared mainly toward the corporate market (using exchange etc... and not the
dial up home user.

That is not to say that OL is a very powerful peace of software.
