Why doesn't the alignment dialog box come up like the book shows?

I am taking an online course in Computer Applications, and working with Excel
2007, as that is what is required. They are instructing us to click on the
alignment box and choose the 45 degree orientation, but I can't get the box
to come up. The Font dialog box comes up, as do the styles and other boxes,
but not the alignment one.

I have to turn in this assignment today, but can't get this part to work.
Since a classmate sent me her Home and Student 2007 version of the programs,
I cannot load them over again to correct this, either.

Any ideas?

Describe what you are clicking on and what happens, if anything, when you do
that. To summarize calling up the Alignment "box" as you call it (it really
is the Alignment tab located on the Format Cells dialog box), you would
click the very small "arrow" icon located to the left of the Alignment
panel's header. An alternative is to click the 4th icon from the left on the
top row of the Alignment panel (it has the letters "ab" on a diagonal with
and arrow underneath them) and select the last entry on the popup menu that
appears (it item caption is Format Cell Alignment).
