Why doesn't Outlook play sound when new mail arrives?

I have just migrated to Outlook 2003 from OE6. I have checked the settings
but Outlook does not play a sound when new mail arrives. Is there a fix for
this? I'm running XP Home SP2. OE6 played the sound fine.

Forgot to mention that Outlook sometimes play the sound - eg when I start
Outlook up.
