Why does Word ask for changes when no changes have been made?

Open a Word document and print it. Close the file and you are prompted:

"Do you wish to save changes?"

No changes have been made.

Why is this?

Printing updates one of the internal pointers in the document and thus Word
sees this as a change to save. Answer y or n as you wish.
