I downloaded an invoice template from office online, and I use it once a
month to send bills for my business. The problem is, when I click on one that
I saved so that I can view it or mark it paid, it changes the date on the
invoice to todays date. How do I stop it from doing that?

Your original template - must have a date field in it that is set to
autoupdate.

Highlight the field on the original template...... then Under the INSERT
menu - chose Date/time. Then you see the styles of writting the date and to
the right will be a little box that is probably turned on. Select the type of
Date you want and turn the auto update check off - and select ok.

But remember, you will now need to change the date when you use the original
template.

Thanks for answering me Balue, however, when I highlight the date field on
the original template, date/time is not a choice I can make under the insert
field. It's all grayed out. Any suggestions?! Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

In the template, Right-click the date field and select Toggle Field Codes.
Then change the {DATE} to say {CREATEDATE}. Now it will be a field that
shows the date of creation instead of the updating Date field, and each doc
you create from it will show the proper date of creation.

You can make the same change in your old documents to date them properly.

I replied under your other post before I saw this one. In the future, try
not to do duplicate posts/questions.
