Whenever I select any message with an attachment, Outlook 2003 stops
responding, and I have to terminate it with Task Manager.

What version of Outlook? Does it hang when you *select* the message, or
when you open it? Do you have preview pane on?

I have a similar problem with Outlook 2003, and everytime I select any
message(with or without attachments) or changing to "contacts" or to
"calendar" it freezes for around 3 minutes and then cme back, but then again,
when I select anything else it freezes again: I've tried eveything, first I
though there was a conflict with the firewall and AV, so I uninstalled them.
I then reduced the time to wiat for a response from the server from the email
accounts, and ultimately I erased them.
Then I compacted the .pst file, I tried erasing old messages to reduce the
size. I tried using the inbox repair tool, and after that I tried
defragmenting the hard drive... Nothing has helped! I've even uninstalled and
reinstalled Office and the problem stays the same. I'm really desperate so
please help me

Thanks
