Why does Outlook not close when I exit?

Can anyone help please? When I finish with Outlook and exit the programme
the icon remains in the Taskbar and the programme in Task Manager as a
Process. Should it not close completely? I don't get enough mail to warrant
it being 'on watch'. Thank you.

Have you installed anything recently that interacts with Outlook that may
cause it to stay running?

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click
either the X or Exit:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support
for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Cover Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background
to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing
mail.

Vince,

Thank you, yes, I just rebuilt my machine from the bottom up to install XP
Pro, Office Pro 2003 and various other bit & pieces so I guess it's a matter
of working through each to identify the problem.

Best,

Joe

Milly,

Thank you...you hit the nail on the head...it was the PDA...I'm grateful for

Best,

Joe
