Why does my 'interactive button' remained grayed out in Frontlook.

Do you mean FrontPage?
If you really do mean FrontLook, then you need to contact their support.

OOOps, nope, I mean Frontpage 2003. I had done the tutorial on interactive
buttons and it was fine, but no matter what kind of a page I try, the
'interactive button' is grayed out.

Check Tools Page Options Authoring
- JavaScript must be enabled

And do you actually have a FP web/site open w/ a Page open (and insertion point selected in Design View)

Yes, I do. I have also tried typing in the text and highlighting it, then
going to find interactive button...still a novice here...
 
Recommend you do a Help Repair or full reinstall of FP
