why does my disk disappear

i was wondering sometime my disk drive dissapears and the error says that my
disk drive was removed and i have to reboot my system then it returns is
there a fix for this please let me know. thankyou.

Please post back with a better description of your computer and the
problem. Is this a hard drive, external hard drive, USB thumbdrive,
optical drive or what?

If the reference is to your primary boot drive, this can be indicative of a
failing drive.. you could try changing the IDE cable, but in all honesty, if
you haven't messed with it, the chances of this helping is not good..

Running hard drive tests are not always of much value either.. I recently
had an 80Gb drive lose its partitions.. running the basic and advanced tests
showed the drive as ok.. low-level formatting revealed that the drive was in
fact failing.. like I didn't know that at the point that all partitions
disappeared.. :-)

If you haven't already gotten a second physical hard drive installed, now
may be a good time to think about it..
