Why does "Hyperlink" pop-up when I type an e-mail address?

Under Word, when ever I type an e-mail address, or put in a hyper-link, the
format shows (ie- { HYPERLINK "mailto:[email protected]"}.

How do I make it appear like: (e-mail address removed) ?
