Why does an integer entered in the cell divide by 10?

Within the spreedsheet aplication on entering an integer eg 56789 the entry
automatically divides by 10 eg 5678.9

Despite formating the cell to 'Number' 0 decimal places the error remains.
The cell has no generic 'Function' application.

Howver of note if 56789.00 is entered then the divison by 10 does not occur
 
In Excel, click on Tools | Options | Edit tab | uncheck the
"Fixed decimal places" box | OK.
