why do temporary files get saved onto CD?

I have several folders to save,
each having a few word docs in each.
When I save the folders onto a CDRW,
why do I find that not only have I got
the folders and docs saved, but loads of
temporary files as well - and how to
stop this please?
 
This usually occurs because those temporary/backup files are hidden
files. To reveal those hidden files, click Start-Control Panel-Folder
Options-View-Check Show hidden files and folders. Microsoft Office
programs will generate backups/temporary files while you are working in
a document and sometimes it will not delete itself when you are done
working with that document.
