Why do my inserted pictures not display in Word Office XP?

When I insert a picture from file to a word doc the picture displays properly
but when I page down (or up) the picture is not there. Can only be displayed
by highlighting the picture area and thru picture toolbox clicking on reset
picture. Using Office XP, Word 2002 SP3. This did not occur with Office 2000
I was using before.
 
Try reducing the hardware acceleration setting in Start | Control
Panel | Display | Settings | Advanced | Troubleshooting. If this
fixes the problem, then you might want to check the website of
the manufacturer of your video card/graphics adapter to see if
there is an updated driver available.
