Why do I need Outlook Connector for MSN?

Would someone please explain to me; why I submitted myself to hours and hours
of agony and frustration trying to make Outlook Connector forMSN work, when
all I had to do was configure Outlook to work directly with my MSN email
account? I'm dead serious here. I invested hours and hours and it (Outlook
Connector) never did work, completely. Yet, creating a new Outlook profile
with an HTTP-type MSN account seemed to be the "ticket".

What am I missing, or not getting? I simply don't see what the added value
(of Outlook Connector) is!

HTTP is email only. The connector syncs contacts and calendar too. If the
connector account is configured as the default delivery location, you can
check pop mail in outlook and it uploads to the msn server. More information
about mool is here: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/mool.htm

What errors did you get?

Thanks Diane. I thought maybe that was the advantage. I was able to get the
Outlook Connector to work for Calendar & Contacts; but it never successfully
worked for MSN Mail. I have made several posts on this site about the errors
(and I made at least a dozen calls to MSN Tech Support). I just made the
decision that if it was that difficult to configure It seemed to be too
finnicky and tempermental for my use. Thanks also for the the tips, I'll
check it out.

the error about connecting occurs if the account is not properly provisioned
or if the subscription expired (if you use an existing hotmail address it
can take up to 24 hours to take effect). it could also be a server thing -
hotmail has had a number of problems recently.

But... it's been long enough to provision and I think hotmail is working
correctly now... so something else is wrong.
