Why do I lose formatting when pasting Excel files into Outlook?

When sending a table or Excel file from Outlook it arrives at it's
destination in a single column and unformatted. The same document sends and
receives okay in Outlook Express. I would like to make the table a form, but
until I can get it to look like it does when sent it is pointless. Any idea's
would be appreciated.

I'm using HTML and I am using Word 2002 as my editor. I've tried not using
Word and using plain text, but it made no difference.

Have you tried sending using the Office Envelope (the email button in the
Excel toolbar) with Word as the editor and html. That works fine for me.

Yes I have tried that and it still loses the lines and the figures do not
line up. When I look at the sent file it looks fine. It is a simple
spreadsheet of 4 columns and 15 lines with figures in. When received it
arrives with the figures but not spaced out in columns, and is basically
unreadable. I suspect I could improve it by using different fonts, but there
must be a way where I can send a formatted excel sheet and it arrives looking
like it was sent.

there is a way - attach it!
