Why do I have two internet connections

You don't have two Internet connections. You have two network adapters.
One (the Intel Pro) is an ethernet adapter and the other (1394) is a
FireWire adapter.

Set up your static IP using the ethernet adapter. Right-click on the
ethernet adapter (Local Area Connection 2 in your picture) and then
left-click on Properties. In the box that appears, find the TCP/IP
entry and double-click it to get its Properties. Assign the desired
static IP at some address outside of the range of your router.

I know I am not using firewire so that is the answer I needed.

I will try to configure the Intel settings.

Looks like you only have one. You can click on that Local Area Connection 2
and hit F2 (rename) to get rid of the extraneous 2 at the end. The 1394
connection is for Ethernet over IEEE1394 (ie, networking over firewire).
