Hi there,

Freshly installed WIN XP Pro with SP (without updates) and D-Link
wireless network card. (I have nothing else installed.)

Why is it that I cannot get a connection to my wireless router when
running in NORMAL mode, whereas when running in safe mode with network
support, I get perfectly well connected. This is rather annoying - who
wants to work in safe mode?

The config is:
Pentium II 350Hz processor with 128Meg RAM.

I will really appreciate your help here - I need to get this network
rolling.

If you have SP2 installed, then you may have a conflicy with D-Link's driver
and Windows WAP controls. Normally, it is suggested to disable the Windows
WAP controls, since the drivers should be handling the connections.

Yves,
thanx for your reply.
Funny enough I have the same card (type) installed on another PC of mine
with SP2 installed. I first installed SP2 and then the drivers of D-
Link. Is there another way to do it?

(I'm a newby to wireless connections.)

I think SP2 behave differently wheither on not it finds a wireless
connection before installing. After a fresh install, you do not have a
wireless driver installed yet so Windows WAP may take over. If you upgrade
to SP2, the wireless driver exists and Windows WAP may just turn itself off.
I am not sure of this, but I read other posts with this similar conflict.
