Hi all,
I have duel boot, Windows ME, / Windows 2000 and also am networked with two
others users within my home, and if any of us boot up using Windows 2000, we
have a really hard time getting into that persons shared folders, but no
problems using the Windows ME, can someone tell me how to fix this problem,
we all three have shared folders setup on our systems, but no one else can
get to them it seems. What do we need to do? Any help at all would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

Capt,

Are you running NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (Local Area Connection - Properties - TCP/IP
- Properties - Advanced - WINS) on each computer? Specifically on each computer
when booted under ME?

Make sure the browser service is running on each computer. Control Panel -
Administrative Tools - Services. Verify that the Computer Browser service is
started.

Windows 2000 uses Advanced File Sharing, which is an account based access
(similar to user-level access).

To make user-level access work between Windows ME and Windows 2000, setup and
use a common account, with identical, non-blank, password on all computers.

Or, if you are using the Guest account for sharing between the Windows ME
computers, activate the Guest account under Windows 2000 by using Local User
Manager (Start - Run - "lusrmgr.msc").

The details are in here:
