Hi

On XP Home Explorer I want to delete a folder.
But Windows will not let me.

This is because there is a file named: search[1].

As you can see the extension is missing.
I have tried to add an extension but everything I try is rejected.

The folder that this file resides in is very old.

The file is located;

C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5\4ZGBYP4J\search[1].

There is 'no read only' settings to the file search[1].
But there is a 'read only' to the folder: 4ZGBYP4J

If I try to delete: search[1]. I receive the error: 'Cannot read from the
source file or disc'

If I try to turn off 'read only' for folder: 4ZGBYP4J then I receive
'the system cannot find the file specified'

Norton is not picking up on this.

I have emptied my Recycle Bin AND the Temp Internet files.

Help!

Thanks, Stephen

Try the "F" section at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm

Perhaps it's locked and windows thinks it's using the file. Try starting in
Safemode then you should be able to delete it, given the name I think I
would run adaware from www.lavasoftuse.com after deleting it.
