Hence my original question in this thread?
OK, while I'm visible, I'll ask it right here. Hopefully one of you guys can
point a lost soul in the right direction.
I'm running Win XP Pro, IIS 5.0 and FPSE2000 (that comes with XP/IIS). Oh,
and FrontPage 2000 upgrade from FP98 full version.
When I open FP, I get "cannot find server at <computername>. Please check
to make sure that the web server name is valid and your proxy settings are
set correctly. If you are sure that everything is correct, the web server
may be temporarily out of service"
I do NOT get a port 80 server error (which I see lots of complaints on,
here), and the error specifically names the computer name, from Networking,
rather than any web that is set up. Not sure if that means anything or not.
I've tried opening "localhost" in a web browser and it opens up two separate
help screens, one is IIS help and the other says "Your web service is now
running. You do not currently have a default web page established......"
My FP webs are located in Inetpub/wwwroot.
If I click past the error when opening FP, I can open the web via file/open,
but it's like the server extensions are not working.
My FP web has a FPSE based shopping cart. It doesn't work, which implies
that the server extensions are not working, but checking them in the MMC
shows them to be in good order and operational.
Machine is new, IBM R40 with 2.4 P4, 256 RAM and OEM XP Pro. I've moved
from an older computer with a full version of Win2K Pro, to this OEM Win XP
Pro and have not been able to get this working properly yet.
I'm lost. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
