I've been a user of Outlook Express 6.0 with no problems. I've now installed
Outlook 2000 and have a vexing problem. My emails to Hotmail IDs are being
sent but not received. To any other addresses get through fine. Any ideas
please?

Do you get an NDR (nondelivery message)? If so, it should give you clues.
You should call your ISP and ask them whether your SMTP server settings are
correct or whether there are known problems sending to hotmail.

In addition, please note:
This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program, despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

If you're accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services Community Newsgroups web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number.

A good website for information on OE is:

Perhaps you are using a background template that is common to spam messages
and so your messages also get detected as spam. Open a Hotmail account,
send a test e-mail to it, and check if it shows up in the Bulk folder
because it got detected as spam. Then look at the raw message to see maybe
what the Hotmail recipient actually receives.

Could be you are enamored with your anti-virus solution that is configured
to always append a promotional spam signature at the end of your messages.
Maybe you are posting through some freebie e-mail service that appends their
promotional spam signature. Until you see what the recipient sees, you're
just guessing what their anti-spam filtering is doing to your message.
Anyone can open a Hotmail account.

The OP was complaining about Outlook 2000, after saying OE worked fine.

Whoops - I knew I shouldn't have drunk anything out of that mysterious
earthenware jug with XXX on it, before posting. :)
