Sunce my last automatic update from Microsoft I can no longer open JPG
attachments (photos) I get a warning box from Office Outlook telling me
"application not found"- Photoshop Elements 2 is there and works fine.
I no longer even get the choice of chosing a program to open the attachment
with- any ideas I can't find whats missing, and the only thing I've deleted
recently has been SpyWare Doctor (and the associated "Tools" folder- I
checked it wasn't anything elses) as it was Occupying 98% of my CPU all the
time.

Check your open file association for jpeg files via folder options in
Control Panel. You might need DDE enabled.

Bill, I don't know about Jon, but you helped me. I had the same issue, and
discovered after following your advice that I was trying to open with an old
software from an old digital camera I had that had been uninstalled. In
windows xp, I needed need to change to classic view in control panel to find
the folder options icon. This has been ticking me off for a long time, Thanks!
bman

Bill,
Thanks for that- I found the problem, I had the hard disk replaced under
warranty. It wasn't the problem, but the new hard disk was faulty as well,
replaced that and the motherboard and all is well, everything opens as it
should, attachment associations were finr.

Thanks so much - solved my problem, too!

I had same problem as well. DDE was enabled. I changed to Microsoft Picture
Viewer and jpg files now open within e-mails.

What is the DDE file. My file applications folder does not have it. Should
I add it, and how.

Jpeg attachment. used to show up in email message body. Now when I get a
attachment in jpeg format, in the email body I get a box with a red x in it.
and it will not open .

But I can click on the attachment and open it in my Corel Photo program.

Please any suggestions, to resolve and have the attachment show up in the
email.

it still will not open.

What are the exact steps you took to try and fix it and what exactly
happens? did you try choosing a different program and setting it as
default?

I have always been able to open these - and one sent to me to day I can open
