I downloaded and installed Service Pack 1. The
programme deleted some of my original files and
saved it as either a backup or temp file and put
it in a folder somewhere. I cannot remember what
was the name of the folder.

I noted that the backup/temp folder created by the
Service Pack 1 is taking too much disk space and I
wish to delete it. How do I locate it or go about
deleting the old files?

Hi

If you delete the folder where the 'backup' files are kept, you won't be
able to uninstall SP1 if need be.

This I understand, but I see no reason to
uninstall SP1 as I am happy with it. I am keen to
free my hard drive space. If that is possible, I'm
prepared to transfer the backup files to a CD for
storage.

Hi

Look for a folder named $ntservicepackuninstall$ - that is where the
uninstall files are kept. The default location is %systemroot%. You can
burn them to a CD - just in case you do need them in the future.
