I have a new computer and when I go to internet explorer
it defaults to yahoo. That works great. But if I enter
another address example www.google.com I get a message
that says 'We can't find 'www.google.com'. It doesn't
default the http:// in front of it. How do I change it so
the http:// will come up in front of the site I'm going to?

Here's a message I saved, posted frequently in response to the same
situation:

Compliments of Mike Burges.

Verify the following entries are correct in the Registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPre
fix]
@="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"
