Who no notification for latest update of WMP?

The Old Timer

I have been using Windows Media Player 9 & every so often I click to see if
there are any new updates & get told that here are no updates. I hear from
friends that there is a version 10 available. But once again when I check
for updates I'm told no there isn't when clearly there is why does this
happen?
