Hello

I've just done a install of XP Pro SP2 and now I want to install .NET

Do I need to install .Net 1.0, .Net 1.1 and .Net 2.0

or

can I just install .Net 2.0 ? I assume .Net 2.0 encompasses the previous
versions?

Thanks

XP by itself doesn't need any of them. Which one you need will be
determined by the application you have that needs one of them. So, if you
don't know, I think I'd just not install any and go ahead and start using
things until you got an error message telling you which one it's looking
for. The other alternative if you have lots of room would be to install
both 1.1 and 2.0; they'll live fine together and often do. I happen to have
to have both of htem installed.

No, it does not. Each is a different program, basically. Stupid way to
name them, I agree.

To be sure you need .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0 plus any updates
for each.

Similar situation to needing the different visual BASIC runtimes.

Hi,

If you have enabled automatic updates then you should be having the latest
version of .net 2.0 (redistributable version). And if that got installed by
default then you dont have to do anything unless you need to install the SDK
to help you to develop applications.

And note that some third party tools like ATI will need .net framework to
run their utilities for the display adapters.
