Which running processes are mandatory

I'm trying to speed up my computer performance by tracking
down the unneccesary running processes. I can't find a
list of the mandatory processes that have to run to keep
windows afloat. Where would I find one?

Also, where would I find a list of mandatory registry
values?

The rocecesses list depends on your computer's configuration and
your softwares and configurations.they're limited if you just use a plain
windows without other services and applications...

Canging the registry is not recommended 'cause there are useful
programs cleaning up the registry(such as McAfee Quick Clean Lite(r) and
many other free softwares)and they're doing that very well (or well),
