I am about to purchase a new computer. It will have
Windows XP Professional as the operating system. I want
to know how to make sure Excel is included in the software
already on the computer.

You will need to read the computer's specs to see if Microsoft Office is
included (not very likely after the US courts got at Microsoft) No operating
system includes Excel.

You can ensure that your new computer will have Excel on it by simply
specifying on the Purchase Order that deliverable must include Microsoft
Excel, or better yet, Microsoft Office (which includes Excel) either loaded
on the Hard Disk or the software shipped as a separate package so you can
install it yourself..........

No operating system includes Excel.

These have to be purchased separately.

Excel is a part of the Microsoft Office suite of
applications. You can buy Excel on its own or combined
with Word, Outlook and Powerpoint.

Have a look at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/programs/default.asp

You can buy Excel from any computer reseller or from the
internet.

Hope this helps!
