Before I suffer a disk crash, or some other calamity, resulting in the loss of all my data, I wish to put in place a weekly backup routine to preserve all files in "My Documents", "My Favorites", and all user data such as (but not limited to) my address book, my emails and their attachments, appointments, notes, etc. for Outlook Express v 6. What Outlook Express 6 files and what Internet Explorer 6 files would I select for backup to CD-R on my Windows XP Pro PC to accomplish this task?

It's good to see someone that thinks ahead.

For everything except OE, copy to CD all your personal folders in My
Documents.

For OE:

Are all the appropriate "My Favorites" file(s), I'm talking about the IE
favorites, located in the "My Documents" folder? No "My Favorites" folder
appears within "My Documents."

FYI, I'm reading up on your OE suggestion as soon as I finish this reply.
Thanks for the tips.

I'm not sure what you want to do. I thought you had everything backed up
except OE.

Go to Local Drive C>Documents and Settings>Your user Name. Right click
on the Favorites folder and send a copy to My Docs and copy to CD from
there along with your other My Docs folders..

For Favorites, in IE click File | Import and Export | Export Favorites
You will get all your favorites in an HTM file which you can import.
