If you wanted to point the user to a proper description of the Windows 2000
registry then point the user to the registry guide in the Windows 2000
Resource Kit. I PDF'd it to 1851 pages

Have not found the name/location of the file(s) that regedit reads from...

on xp, under \Windows\system32\config; there are a few files like system,
sam ... those might be the files that regedit reads. I could not open them.
