Right guys i'm building a computer for myself just now
but am puzzled about what CPU to get, here are my choices

P4 2.8ghz 800FSB £109
P4 2.8ghz 533FSB £95
P4 2.4ghz 800FSB £85

Any recomendations?
How much advantage does the 800fsb have over the 533?
Does anyone know any cheap places to buy cheap cpus?

Thanks guys
Eric

If it's within budget including a suitable MB I'd go for the 800FSB 2.8ghz,
or the 2.4ghz. Prices look good already local shop to me (Nottingham) show
those sort of prices + VAT.

Purchase the most your funds will allow you to buy. It would be
better to grow into a more powerful box than to outgrow a less
powerfule one.

LOL, I love these types of posts.

First off, what are you going to be doing with it? What you can do is
buy the 2.4 GHz and overclock it to around 3 GHz (though it can easily
be taken up to 3.4 GHz with decent memory). The 800 MHz FSB does make a
huge difference. That will make sure you don't get bottle-necks. I am
running a 2.6C at 3.9 GHz for instance on a P4P800. If you plan on
overclocking, you will need some good cooling depending on how far you
want to push it. If you don't like doing things like that, you should
just get the 2.8 GHz 800FSB. Last question, are you thinking a C
revision or E revision? And also check www.newegg.com for good prices ;)

Just remember that whatever CPU you purchase, it MUST be supported by the
M/B. If you already have the M/B, you may well be limited in your CPU
choices.
