I started to install xp onto a new drive as well as my old one, then
errors stopped it. I formatted the new drive to use as a data drive.

Now on startup I am presented with 2 options both xp and have about
1/2 second to choose or it defaults to the data drive which won't
boot.

I figured I could fix the startup menu by editing the boot.ini file,
but there is none. Now what can I do????

Hi Blacksmith,

Your boot.ini file should be a hidden system file that is read only on c:\
If you turn on show system and hidden folders in Folder Options (From
Windows Explorer - Tools - Folder Options - View tab) and go to c:\ you
should see it.
You will need to go into the properties of it and remove the read only flag
and then you can change it.

You can also edit it by running msconfig from Start - Run and clicking on
the boot.ini tab.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Nico,
I thought I had turned on show hidden files, but it still wasn't
showing it. Went to msconfig and fixed the problem.

Back in business!
