An Outlook or Office NG can answer that question. In OE, you click
Tools, Options, General tab, select "Check for new messages every..".

It's in Tools, Options, Mail Setup, click on the Send/Receive button, and
there's an option for "schedule an automatic send/receive every <X> minutes"
