sorry outlook 2000
and i have looked in tools/options/ every tab and followed every tree, not
just email stuff and be damned if i can find it

It should be in Tools | Options, Mail Delivery tab, in the "Mail account
options" section -- check the box for "Check for new messages every X
minutes" and change the number to whatever you like (10 or more minutes is
recommended).

this is a frustrating hassle,
i don't have a 'mail delivery' tab, i have 'mail services' and 'mail
format' and a bunch of other options via preferences/email options(button)
but nowhere is the check for new messages every.....
but thanks for your help

OK, then you're using the Corporate/Workgroup mode of Outlook 2000, not
Internet Mail Only. Are you connecting to an Exchange server? If not, is
there any specific reason you are configured in C/W mode? If you're not
sure, look at the following article and see if you should switch to IMO
mode:

ok thanks that works, can't remember why but there was something that seemed
worthwhile using the c/w mode
i think it had to do with with how the contacts are handled

Hi,
Are you saying that if we are using the Corporate or Workgroup option
for Outlook 2000, we won't have a "Mail account options" section in
Tools | Options? It's not that way in Outlook 2002 or 2003 is it? We
are using Exchange 5.5 so we have to use Corporate or Workgroup,
correct?

Thanks in advance.
