I thought the new version was to be released on the 16th....
Drapper Drake... yet its still in alpha 6
Am I wrong, or are they copying Vista's strategy of delays?

Ubuntu means: "see the view" in other words "vista" in african.

Release has been deferred until June.

African? I don't think there is any such language.

.... Far better to regret not having done some things, than to regret some
of the things you have done.

My fluids are building up to bursting. Hmm, so much for their
predictable release schedule.

Actually, from my point of view, I would have liked to see them release
it on time. They could always make the next release the supported release.

I'm given to understand in Breezy Badger, a recently-released version of
Gnome was bunged in at the last moment. I disagree with this decision on
2 grounds:
1. the developers had to work a lot of overtime to get it in, which is
kinda unfair on the developers
2. cramming stuff in at the last moment is a recipe for disaster.

Given the frequency of their releases, there is no real need for them to
rush anything.

Probably 2 releases a year is too much, anyway. It makes it more
difficult to achieve complicated enhancements.

Still, what would I know, I'm not a multi-millionare like Mr
Shuttleworth :(

I had a go on Dapper Drake a few months ago. I would have liked to have
seen a visual change in the design of it but it all seemed the same. Unless
they can offer a good reason to upgrade, I can see no point.

I did not attach the word "language" after "African", you did!

Please read here http://www.ubuntu.com/
"Ubuntu" is an ancient African word, meaning "humanity to others". Ubuntu
also means "I am what I am because of who we all are". The Ubuntu Linux
distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.

And here for more details :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_(ideology)

I might have meant African dialect.... I am well aware that there are many
languages in Africa...

- Ubuntu means: "sneaky newgroup people try to distort your words" in
African
