I'm just a josephine average kinda user and I'm struggling with Vista (I was
forced to buy it when my computer crashed and I had to get a new one.)

I want to install my data on my new computer and went to "computer" and
there is no cd/dvd drive?

Is it somewhere else? where should I look?

There is probably some really simple answer and you guys will have a good
laugh but I'm stuck!

That's the right place to look. All your drives regardless if
internal, external or CD/DVD should be listed under the computer
folder.

If you don't see your CD/DVD there, next look in Device Manager. Go to
Control Panel, (probably best to go to classic mode) Administrative,
Computer Management then Device Manager in the left window pane. Click
that, then see if there is a line that reads DVD/CD Rom drives. If so,
click on the + and see if your drive is listed and if or not there is
yellow warning or red error.

Come back with what you see if anything.

What actually happens when you put a CD in the Drive? If it doesn't open to
allow you to insert CD, and no light winking on the front of the tray, that
is a connections problem
