where in the registry is default mail application located ?

i have a favorite mail program i am using but it does not seem to
properly set itself as the default mail application and when i go to
"Set Program Access and Defaults" it is not listed (its an older email
program but one i like to use).

 

[Guest]

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail

Double click the (Default) value and set to "Microsoft Outlook" (don't type
the quotes)

Have you tried Control Panel, Internet Options, Programs?
