Thousands of users need a remedy to the KB 931768 faux pax from MS. The
MVP's, who abide in these forums, appear to be silent on this issue...other
than offering a few dismal side-step suggestions.

What do MVP's have to do with this "issue"?

BTW, I haven't noticed any problems with the update.

Ingrate... vampire... etc.

Are you always so mean to volunteers?

Besides... the problem is NOT a Vista issue but more
accurately described as an Internet Explorer one
since it is occurring on XP as well.

You may find an artery to suck at
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general.

Are you somehow under the impression that they somehow report things
back to MS tech support, or fix the problem themselves?

Perhaps you didn't realize that they are simply users, like the rest of us?

There are several people who have had a problem whereby
their Internet Explorer has been screwed by an autoupdate of the "fix"
but, generally, they have taken the issue to the appropriate forum....
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general
since it is NOT a Vista specific event.

The short term solution is to uninstall the fix.

If I had a penny for everything she didn't realise I'd be a wealthy man.
Had she held her tongue for a moment and did a little browsing of this group
she may have found a thread...
Windows Update just MURDERED Internet Explorer

Lets be charitable and assume she has misplaced her HRT.

Hi Mary,

First things first, in French one says "faux pas" not "faux pax".
Just a little "tache de beauté", appart from that it is perfect French :-))

Could you please tell me what the problem is with that KB ?
I have installed all the updates and haven't come across any problem
whatsoever.

Most people who have had a problem reported it in the
internetexplorer.general group... it is not a Vista issue,
but there is a running thread here too...

They're waiting for further instructions from Big Brother. Unfortunately,
Big Brother has yet to figure out a solution.

What "KB931768 faux pas?" Do you actually have a real
problem/question? If so, please describe it, in detail.

Loss of HRT tablets.
They were in the bathroom cabinet.

The MVP's are all offline because their FRIGGIN' IE7 DIED due to Microsoft's
Faulty patch and the MVPs are no longer able to access the Internet because
they do not know how to use Firefox.

We're on our own.

Sheesh, I never realized when I gave Best Buy my $200 that I was not buying
and OS but was in fact signing up to be part of the world's largest public
beta program.

Most experienced users realize it all too well.

ROTFLMAO!

The saga continues...

Three things are certain in life:

1. death
2. taxes
3. Microsoft "security" patches

I applied the update and haven't had a problem. This is not to say that
some systems have had a problem with it. The problems associated with that
update apply to both Vista and XP, so it's not a Vista specific issue. The
better forum for these issues is the internet explorer newsgroup and the
windows update newsgroup.

Mary, you seem to have a wrong idea about who the MVPs are. We are just
users, like yourself, recognized by MS for helping out in a variety of ways,
including in the newsgroups, but in many other ways as well. We are not
employees of MS, and most are not associated with them beyond the honorary
title. We are not involved in the issuance of or issuing fixes for problems
with updates from MS. We just try to help out other users.

See this link for more info on what an MVP is.

She's confused enough without throwing facts at her.
