Did you click on the little (almost invisible) triangle next to Local Folders to
expand it?

Have tried this but nothing happened!!! I really need to collect my mail.
What can I try next?

Third part anti-virus, ant-spyware, and security suites (especially Norton and
McAfee) cause numerous problems with Vista Windows Mail.

What third party malware/security applications are installed on your system?

UNINSTALLING (not just disabling) Norton would be a very good first step.

Robert is absolutely correct.

Norton is so bloated and causes many, many problems besides e-mail
functionality, I use Avast on my Vista Business x64 system. Just be SURE, as
Robert says, to do the custom install and omit the e-mail scanner.

Windows own firewall is very good and Windows Defender will protect you from
spyware. You might also want to download and install ad blockers such as SpyBot
Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware (both free).

There is a dropdown that usually says "Show All Messages". If you clicked it
and it shows "Hide Read Messages" then that is what the system is doing....
hiding everything that was read.

Change the setting.
