My computer recently crashed, but just before it went
completely down, a coworker saved my entire hard drive to
usb external hard drive. When he finished fixing my
computer and I reinstalled Office, none of my email
messages are able to be found, even when I open Outlook
from my file of old stuff he had saved. Can you give me
an idea where Outlook stored those old messages? Any
help would be SO SO much appreciated!!

It depends on the operating system and version of Outlook you use (which you
didn't think important enough to include), but the file type is always
".pst"

Hi Jeff,

If you are not connected to an Exchange Server, Outlook stores all information in a Personal Folders File (.PST). Make sure you search for hidden files, and search for all .PST files on your
machine to locate your information.

For more information on , please refer to Knowledge Base article

Your file, then, should be located in C:\Documents and
Settings\{username}\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook or C:\Documents and
Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
