Where do I save a download in Vista?

This seems like a silly question but Vista has it's quirks. I'm choosing to
save a file that I am downloading from the web. I want to save it to my
external hard drive. I don't see the usual dropdown arrows to let view my
computer's subdirectories, there seems to be only very limited choices from
the dialog box (it has a bar across the top suggesting a user name/downloads
directory and when I pull down the arrow next to it all I get is a list of
previously visited web sites. Obviously the correct choice is there
someplace but I can't seem to find it. Help please.

Choose "computer". That will show you the drives connected. Choose your
drive.

Well open your User folder and creat a folder called Downloads then save
your file there.

Select the download path that you see there, then overtype it with
whatever you want.

Thanks, your choice was best.
